Mrs. Drannon's Bio

Welcome to the wonderful world of Resource! My name is

Lisa Drannon, and I am one of the resource teachers

at Fulbright. This will be my sixth year at Fulbright and twelfth year

in Little Rock School District as a Special Education teacher.

Through my experiences, I have found that each child is

unique in his or her learning abilities and approaches learning tasks

in a very different way.  Most of my instruction provides the children with

opportunities for hands on learning. I believe that when

my students are given the opportunity to work in this

environment at his or her own pace, they gain the skills in

order to be successful. In addition, I feel that collaboration

among parents, regular class teachers, and myself is

key to success.

My experience as a Special Education teacher hit home when

my second child was identified as having a disability at age 19 months.

Even though I knew much about the field, nothing could prepare me

for the impact of actually raising a child with a disability. Sitting in the

opposite position I had been accustomed to for so many years during

IEP planning meetings made me understand the emotions,

thoughts, frustration, etc. that parents go through. Through this

experience with my own child, I have been able to relate with

my students and their parents on a much different level.

In addition to my son that I previously mentioned,

I have 2 other very active boys. All three of them are active in school,

basketball, swim team, and Cub Scouts.  They are all wonderful in

their own unique way! In my spare time, I enjoy swimming, walking,

reading, and any activity outdoors.
