Dear Parents,
Each of you made me feel very special during Teacher Appreciation Week. I will always treasure your thoughtful notes, cards and letters. I was spoiled with tasty treats and lunches. I especially enjoyed being treated to a lunch out on Friday without having to watch the clock. I continue to enjoy the beautiful bouquet of flowers that will be the centerpiece on my Mother's Day table. The stickers and note pads will be put to good use. I am really looking forward to going shopping at Target! The certificate will be added to the display behind my work station and will remind me of this sweet class. I will always think of how much I loved teaching your children when I wear my precious apron. Thank you for all of the creative and wonderful ways you showed your appreciation this week. I am very grateful to have been a part of your lives this year.
The children had a great time at Field Day and participating in the Fun Run. We could not have had better weather. Thank you to all of the parents who helped your children get pledges for the Fun Run. If all of the money is collected, the PTA will exceed their $15,000 goal. Our class earned a popsicle party, popcorn and a movie, and a birthday party. These were incentives that the children selected. We will celebrate our many May birthdays and summer birthdays this week at the birthday party they earned.
The children enjoyed preparing and hosting the Mother's Day tea. I am sorry the hearts on some of the key chains broke. We are going to make new hearts Monday out of a different product. I will send home the new hearts with instructions as soon as they harden or you can send back your key chain for me to change the heart. The children were so proud of their hearts, and I was sorry that they would not dry as indicated on the instructions. Last week's theme, "Trying New Things" , was very appropriate. Through this experience the children learned that sometimes we just have to keep trying!
I am sending home a hard copy of a survey from Karen James, Director of Early Childhood Literacy for the Little Rock School District. Please return the survey by placing it in the envelope next to the sign in book. You may also go to my web page at www.fulbrightelem.org and click on the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/ecfamilysurvey and complete the survey online.
This week's theme is "I Can Do It!" As we prepare the children to enter kindergarten next year the children will reflect on all the ways they have grown and changed during the year. Vocabulary words for this week include: finish, goal and quit.
Our learning
objectives for this week include:
Phonological Awareness
The children will go to Kindergarten Round-up Thursday morning. I will take the class and stay with them as they meet the kindergarten teachers and enjoy the western adventures that are planned. They will also meet new incoming kindergarten friends who have not attended Fulbright's Pre-K. At this time, we are expecting to have four kindergarten classes next year. Parents are encouraged to attend the meeting in the library from 9:00 to 10:00 while their children are participating in their activities.
We will celebrate your child's year in Pre-K with a program and
awards ceremony Thursday, May 24 beginning at 8:30.
A slide show will begin at 8:10. We
have moved the time back to 8:30 because the fifth grade graduation
practice is going to be at St. James. I hope each of
you will be able to attend. The children will sing and
then each child will receive an award. I
add dates to the list of upcoming events as I receive them.
Changes in the date of an event are beyond my control.
Please note any changes each week when I update my web page.

Thursday, May 24- Pre-K Program and Awards Ceremony 8:30 am
